WELFARE OF THE WOMEN

The Department of Social Welfare implemented the following Schemes/Programmes :-

1.WELFARE OF THE WOMEN

Under the Scheme the Department accommodated 11 Working women at the Department's Working Ladies Hostel at Takyel Lump Sum maintenance Grant to one Destitute Women Home at Imphal was also extended. The Department chalked out year long programme on the Women's Empowerment year 2001 in the first State Level Committee meeting held on 7th March, 2001 (in which all related State Departments were assigned with the responsibility of the observing the year in the befitting manner. Accordingly, the observance was continued in 2001-02 and various State Departments observed the same by organizing Seminars/Workshops on monthly basis.

2.NATIONAL SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME (NSAP)

a) National Maternity Benefit Scheme :

Financial assistance to the family below poverty line on the birth of a child was extended. During the year, 5635 families have been benefited.

b) National Family Benefit scheme :

Under which financial grant to the family belonging to poverty line when the head of family who is Primary Bread Winner of the family dies Under the Scheme 599 families were benefited.
