Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to Freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to freedom of Religion Cultural and Educational right to Constitutional Remedies, Directive Principles of the State Policy ; Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles, Fundamental Duties.

b) Democracy :

Origins of modem democracy, Kinds of Democracy, Direct Democracy, Indirect Democracy. How public opinion is formed, News-papers, Radio and Television, The Camera.

c) Elections:

Representation, Secret Ballot, Candidates, Nomination, Symbols, The campaign, Simple Majority.

d) Political Parties :

Party systems, Advantages of Bi-party system, Party System in India, Major Parties, National Parties, Party programmes and Manifestos, Role of the Opposition.

II.  MAJOR ISSUES IN THE WORLD                           [15 periods]

Indian Foreign Policy and the United Nation :  Non-Alignment, India and her Neighbours, India and Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, India and China, India and Sri Lanka, India and West Asia, India's Relations with other Powers, India and the USA India and USSR, the United Nations. The structure of the UN, India's Role in the United Nations.
